- I am John Sutter
- January 24, 1848
- I'm James Marshall and I found gold as I wanted to build a mill
- I know this place, it's really famous
- More gold! I'm rich!
- 'Sutter's Mill'
- I will get the gold now! It's mine! Give it to me or you will die!
- Our journey is very difficult
- I am a treasure seeker and I left the East of the United States
- We are travelling by wagon, lots of people started travelling with us and died because the way was so hard
- They are called "the 49ers"
- I am travelling to California to find gold and get rich.
- Year 1849
- We are travelling since eight months and in maybe one month we will enter California
- Year 1850
- We made it to California, the gold was free for us and we were lucky enough to find it. So we could build a nice house!
- I am an early miner but we didn't become the richest people.
- Yeah!
- We made the trip out West and we were not lucky enough to find gold, like the majority.
- Yet
- This business still exist today
- We also own large houses and we are sitting in one of our shops.
- We are the richest people because we created shops to support all the miners with the things they needed for their work, for example tools or clothes.
- Levi Strauss shop
- The Gold Rush is a very important event in US history because it brought more and more Americans to California. Gold was found in California, so it got the name “The Golden State”.
- I made my way to the West but I had a lot of problems. The work is extremely hard. I wasn't successful in finding gold so I lost everything I had.
