- Historical Events: Nevada
- During the winter of 1846-1847, the Donner Party wagons are snowbound in the Sierra Nevada Mountains due to an early blizzard.
- Devastating Fire
- Admitted Into the Union
- Nevada was the 36th state admitted into the Union on October 31, 1864.
- On October 25, 1875, the Great Fire blazed through Virginia City, leaving about 10,000 people homeless.
- Gambling
- The Hoover Dam
- The Hoover Dam construction is completed. Beginning in 1931, the dam created Lake Mead and controls the water flow of the Colorado River.
- Gambling was legalized in Nevada, and would soon lead to a booming tourist population for years to come.
