- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins .Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen-year-old girl, is the main character in the novel. Her father died, and now she is responsible for killing animals to feed her family. Prim, Katniss' younger sister, is selected as a tribute,but Katniss volunteers to go instead. A boy named Peeta is the other tribute from District 12.
- CLIMAX
- Before each Hunger Games, a reaping was held in each district, during which the tributes for the following Games were chosen. Prim was chosen, but Katniss volunteered to take her place.Prim is Katniss younger sister.
- FALLING ACTION
- Rue starts a fire to keep the Careers occupied while Katniss locates their supplies. She discovers explosives beneath it and blows up all the supplies. The explosion completely destroys them, and Katniss is badly injured and loses her hearing in one ear. Even though#160; their strategy is successful, Rue is killed by the Careers.
- RESOLUTION
- The last two tributes left are Katniss and Peeta. Seneca Crane chooses to change the rule, forcing them to fight, but they choose to take the poison berries Peeta discovered the day before and die as a group. They are both declared winners of the 74th Hunger Games by Seneca.
- Katniss and Peeta are the last two tributes left. They had previously stated that there may be two winners, but only if they came from the same district. They make another announcement now that there are only two of them remaining. According to the Capitol, there can only be one victor at this time.
- Katniss and Peeta have been restored. Katniss is still confused between her affections for Peeta and Gale. When she learns from Haymitch that the capitol is upset about what they did with the berries, she decides to enjoy the illusion of love she's built.
