- 1493 Juan Ponce de Leon was said to go with Columbus on his 2nd trip to the new world (Juan Ponce de Leon left his home in Spain ).
- Settling on the Caribbean island, Hispaniola ( divided between Haiti and Dominican Republic). Juan became a military captain.

- 1506 Juan Ponce de Leon explored Borinquen ( Puerto Rico) hearing there was gold there. He killed Native Americans and conquered the land. Spain's King, Ferdinand made him governor.

- 1513 he set sail. After a month Juan Ponce de Leon reached land, It was Florida. He claimed the land for Spain and with no luck finding the fountain he went home.
- 1521 returned to Florida to start a settlement with 200 men. The American Indians refused to give up their land. They hit him with an arrow. He sailed to Cuba and died soon after arrival.
