- Participants arrested and taken to the make shift prison in the basement of Stamford University . Where they were strip-searched and deloused. They had to wear uniform and be referred to by numbers.
- Day 5
- Prisoners rebelled against the guards - made to do counts (press ups) they barricaded themselves into there cells and were forced into a strip search and the ring leaders put in solitary confinement (tiny cupboard).
- Day 6
- THIS ISN'T RIGHT! ... HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT
- Guards became more brutal refusing to let the prisoners leave there cells. One prisoner showed signs of extreme anxiety but wasn't allowed to leave until Day 4.
- RESULTS
- Prisoners and guards adopted their roles, which involved an imbalance of power between groups. Tyranny was inevitable.
- Prisoners made to clean toilets with there bare hands. At night when the guards though the prisoners weren't looking they sexually humiliated prisoners.
- THIS IS DISGUSTING
- Zimbardo's Girlfriend Christina Maslach objected strongly and convinced researcher to stop the study.
- The reasons for the behaviour was the situation they found themselves in which made them conform their roles and not something about their personality.
