  • If you were black and doing well in society the government could label you as white and give you more privilege.

  • If you were white and did something wrong the government could label you as black and take away privileges.
  • The pencil test was a way for the government to determine whether or not someone was black. If the pencil stayed in your hair you were black, and if it fell out then you were= white.

  • How did Trevor get his bike stolen?
  • A girl that Trevor had never saw before came up to him and asked to try his bike. Trevor thought he was making a friend but instead she stole it and biked away.
  • Why does Trevor's mom start laughing when Trevor explains what happened at the mulberry tree?
  • Glisser: 0
  • Trevor went to pick berries under the mulberry tree but then some bigger kids started pelting him with berries and calling him names.
  • She had thought Trevor was beaten up and bleeding all over, but it was really just the red juice from the berries that was all over him.
  • He is very aggressive and has a big temper. Gets out of control so much that he doesn't restrain from beating up a young boy.
