- UIL Spelling!
- Guys, we can do this! We've been studying for months.
- I knew that I was focusing on spelling way too much. So, I decided to have a girl's day with my friend, Sandy. I had finally found the perfect balance between work and personal time!
- Easy! A-M-I-A-B-L-E
- The next word is: amiable.
- The next few practice tests were a breeze. Paula and I were at the top of the spelling-team. Everyone was excited to beat other middle schools at district.
- ...and in second place, Richard Powell, congratulations!
- Oh gosh!
- On the day of the UIL District meet, my team was ready to dominate. We all gave each other words of motivation before entering the testing room.
- Our first place winner and spelling champion is, Brooke Abel!
- As the spelling test administrator stated the words, I felt like I was acing the test. My studying was paying off.
- Time went by excruciatingly slow while I was waiting for the spelling results. Then, the announcer started listing the names of people who placed in the top five. I knew that I didn't place when my name wasn't called by 2nd.
- It was me? I had done it! I looked over to Mrs. Scott, who had a huge grin on her face.
