Texte du Storyboard

  • The Open Boat by Stephen Crane
  • The author has presented four men on a boat drifting in the middle of the sea. The Open Boat conveys a loneliness tone and because the men are stranded in the sea. The setting takes place in the ocean over a period of a couple days til they reach their destination which is an island in Florida
  • Exposition
  • While reading the short story, the rising action takes up a lot of the story and the four men are lost and stranded and lost in the ocean. During their time on the boat they face multiple challenges.
  • Raising Action
  • The climax is a big point in the story. The four men jump out of the boat and have to swim to land. When a certain man sees the men swimming he then goes to help and pulls them out of the water. I believe the climax does resolve the central conflict because they overcome the conflict and the men don't have to worry about them drowning on the boat, and they then get to the island.
  • Climax
  • The falling action happens right before the resolution. When all the men reach the shore, a group of men and women all rush to the shore and try to help the men out, until the men see that they are missing one of their friends.
  • Falling Action
  • The resolution happens at the very end when they have dealt with their problem. When the men are sitting on shore listening to the voice of the ocean and they feel as if they can be interpreters of the sea.
