  • Well, I remember a little bit from my lessons last year.
  • Hey Tom! do you know how to find the angle of elevation for this slide?
  • Great! Now all we need to do is envision the right angle by the slide and use those trigonometry formulas that I learned to find the angle.
  • As far as I can remember the height of this slide was 9ft and the hypotenuse is 12ft long.
  • Yes! It’s really simple.
  • Now that we are picturing the right angle there, we could solve now for the angle.
  • first we need to identify where is the hypotenuse, opposite, and adjacent.
  • 12 ft
  • Alright! so the value of the hypotenuse is 12ft and the value of the adjacent is 9ft. This concludes that the missing is the opposite right?
  • 9 ft
  • Exactly. Since we are given with the adjacent and the hypotenuse, we need to use the cos. Since cos=a/h we need to substitute it that makes it cosO=9/12 or ¾.
  • Then next is we need to divide both sides with cos so it would cancel out the cos that makes it O=cos^-1 ¾ right?
  • That makes it equal to 41.41. So that means the angle of elevation of the slide is 41.41. Thanks, Tom, for helping me solve the angle of elevation for this slide.
  • that’s right Lina. Next is to use your scientific calculator to get the final answer.
