- People line up for their COVID-19 vaccines in order to better protect their health while the pandemic grasps hold of many countries. As this occurs, two antivaxxers sit on the bench and judge them. The one woman, uses Andrew Wakefield's research as support of her claims, despite his experiment being unethical. She is siding with authority, but using selective observation and only considering Wakefield's "evidence" of vaccines causing autism. This evidence is coming from an authoritative figure, so when a recognized face makes a claim despite how irrational it is, it's believable.
- I know right? Haven't they heard about Andrew Wakefield's research?
- Look at all those dimwits lining up to get that COVID-19 vaccine.
- Many people in regards to the pandemic get lost in their own ideas of what's scientifically correct and what isn't. There is no scientific evidence that vaccines can cause you to be infertile, yet there seems to be a rumour floating around claiming so. This is illogical reasoning. There is an expectance of events to reoccur, however nobody considers the confounding variables that could have to do with this health issue. Also, posting unproven facts to the internet can lead to mass hysteria.
- Really? I'm going to have to post that to my forum.
- You know, I'm sure that there are side effects of the vaccine. I bet you can't get pregnant after the shot.

- These women are relying heavily on pseudoscience as well as more selective observation. There is reliance on anecdotal evidence, refusal to give up a belief in theory despite contrary evidence, as well as selective confirmation and bias. Pseudoscience can sound scientific, but does not reach the standards of the scientific method. Not only that, but it leads to misinformation being shared across the planet due to globalization, the interconnectedness of our world.
- I also heard from a friend that the vaccine makes it more likely for you to get the virus! She told me she got sick right after her shot.
- No kidding? That must be true because you're the third person I've heard that from. I don't believe what these sources are saying, they're money-grubbers.

- At first, the vaccine was a folkway in Canada, but it quickly climbed its way up the ladder of social requirements. If someone isn't vaccinated in Canada, others would look down on them. However, as time passed, it became a law. Now it is enforced through hefty fines if one is found breaking the rules set by the government, such as entering a restaurant without a vaccine card or attending anti-vax rallies. This can result in refusal of service, social reclusion, and exclusion.
- How are we supposed to live with all these rules?!
- Don't even get me started on having to be vaccinated to do anything fun...

- While comparing the situations of other countries to their own, these women fail to consider overgeneralization error, when exceptions are treated as the rule. Due to fear-mongering in other countries, they believe that imprisonment will eventually become their reality. There is no guarantee this will happen, but they are still confident they it will one day apply to them.
- I heard some governments started arresting citizens who aren't vaccinated. How much longer until that happens to us?
- I'm just so tired of all of this vaccine stuff.

- In the end, the women realize that they would not have a good quality of life without the vaccine. This form of resocialization changed their values. One could consider this anticipatory socialization, as they both feared the consequences of being unvaccinated, so they followed the norm of being vaccinated allowing them to do what they aspire. This adaptation allows them to fulfill their own needs and interests, whether or not they believe the vaccine mandate is fair.
- Maybe it's for the best we get the shot. At least that way we can do what we want.
