- That's right!Enzymes are made up of proteins and it catalyze chemical reactions that speed up the rate of chemical reactions in our bodies by lowering the reaction's activation energy- the energy required to get the reaction going.
- Substrate
- And Miss, what is the purpose of substrate?
- But Miss, how do the enzyme works?
- Enzymes come together with substrate, any molecule that needs work. This happens on the active site. When they combined they creates the Enzyme Substrate Complex.Class, note that the enzyme catalyzes a biochemical reaction by binding a substrate at the active site. After the reaction has proceeded, the products are released and the enzyme can catalyze further reactions.That's it for today class! I hope you'll learn new things today.
