- Hello my name is Ann the apple! I'm going to lead you through the journey of the digestion system! First we start here at the mouth. Once you chew up the food it exits the mouth.
- Once I'm all chewed up i start to travel down this long skinny tube called the esophagus. The muscles in the esophagus squeeze me all the way down to the stomach.
- Then when we finally makes it to the stomach, the stomach releases acid that breaks down the food. onto a liquid called chyme
- After we leave the stomach we come to the small intestine. The live will send bile to gall bladder until the food arrives. Tiny things named villi absorb the molecules and any leftover fiber, and water. After that dead cells enter the large intestine.
- When we make it into the large intestine, the colon will drain out most of the fluid through the intestinal walls. That will leave you with stool or what you might know as, poop.
- The large intestine removes the food in a small pouch like place where it is help until the food leaves the body through the anus. And that is the journey of the digestive system Which takes around 35 hours to end.
