  • The exposition of Raisin in the Sun is focused on the introduction of the characters' hopes, dreams, and personalities. The family lives in a tight apartment and are financially struggling. Walters father died, and they then received a 10k check.
  • Climax
  • In Scene 1, the family is obsessed with the $10,000 insurance check that is set to arrive any day. Each person in the family wants to escape poverty by using the money to fulfill their own dreams. While Walter wants to use it to open a liquor store, mama wants to use it to buy a new house and Beneatha wants to use it to go to school.
  • Falling Action
  • Mama makes a down payment on a house; Mama gives Walter the remaining insurance money; Walter invests the money in the liquor store venture.
  • Resolution
  • When Bobo informs Walter that Willy has run off with their investment money, apparently destroying Walter's hope of opening a business. Walter was shocked and known that he messed up and had to eventually tell his family that he was greedy ad lost all the money.
  • Walter refuses Mr. Lindner's offer to not move; the Youngers move out of the apartment to their new house in the white neighborhood, 
  • The family is getting ready to move into their new home. Although the family just lost all their money, this is a happy ending to the story. Lindner got to the family’s home, Walter planned on selling the house to him
