- The seed fell on the pavement where the soil was hard and dry. The people trod on them and the birds pecked at them. So they did not grow.
- I'll plant this seed in the soil
- The seed landed on the rocky soil. It grew and sprouted roots but later died because there was no room for the roots to grow in the rocky soil.
- I'll plant the seeds here and they will grow large.
- It grew a small amount and then died because the weeds and thorns entangled it and blocked it from the sunlight.
