The Rainbow Serpent Myth

- Long ago in the Dreamtime. The earth was a flat and empty place. Nothing on earth ever moved or grew.
- Where is everyone?
- One day, A colourful serpent awoke from her deep sleep and arose from under the earth. This snake was known as the Rainbow Serpent.
- The serpent travelled for a long time, searching far and wide, As she travelled across the land. She formed many mountains and riverbeds. The beautiful rainbow serpent was the creature that shaped the earth.
- After awaking from a small sleep, the serpent went back to where it first appeared. When the serpent returned. She called out to all of the frogs, They all woke up very slowly. Their stomachs filled with water. The rainbow serpent then tickled all of the frog's stomachs and water began to spill out creating all of earths' rivers and lakes.
- Create the rivers and lakes
- After this occurred, more water, grass and trees began to grow all of the other animals that lived in the trees and the air started to wake up also. All of these animals then followed the rainbow serpent. They were all very happy with it's work.

- The rainbow serpent then said: The tribes of people then lived happily on the land that the Rainbow Serpent had created for them. They all knew that the land would always be theirs as long as they took care of it, and they had the rainbow serpent to thank for that
- "Those who obey me will get rewarded with human form, if not you will be turned to stone."
