- There are four patterns noted; comparison and contrast, cause and effect, division and classification, and process analysis. They are very common in academic as well as everyday thinking and writing.
- Very good Jenny. Now, what does it mean by development of ideas? Can you explain this, Mike?
- By idea development, it simply means that the Idea development is simply about#160;implementing different ways of exploring ideas and composing solutions that best solve the problem in the most effective manner.

- By recognizing the writing pattern,#160;you will be able to focus your attention on what the author is trying to say and anticipate how the author will develop a point. This deeper understanding of what the text is doing will help you improve your memory of what the text is saying.
