Texte du Storyboard

  • Oedipus, we need your help!!!
  • The citizens are begging Oedipus to lift up the plague. Oedipus says he never fails to see what is going on. He eagerly attempts to uncover the truth.
  • Please help us and the city!!!
  • A deadly plague consumes our city, strikes like bolts of lightning, burns our flesh, and ravages the house of Cadmus.
  • Oedipus has sent Creon, son of Menoeceus,8 brother of the queen, to Delphi. There at Apollo’s oracle he will learn, if he can, what Oedipus must do or promise to do to save the city.
  • Creon, I need to find the truth! Go to the Delphic oracle and find out how to lift up the plague
  • I will lift up the plague if you help me find the killers
  • Creon just came back from the oracle and asked if he wanted to hear the truth. Creon wanted to talk to him privately but Oedipus wanted the citizens to hear too. From Apollo, who spoke through oracle, said: the murderer of Laius, who ruled before Oedipus, must be driven out in order for the plague to end.
  • Where are the killers? How, after so many years, can we find a clue to solve the crime?
  • Do you wish me to speak in public in front of all these men? I will of course.
  • Oedipus furiously accused Tiresias of the murder. Prophet Tiresias at first refused to speak, then accused Oedipus for killing Laius. The king criticized Tiresias's powers wildly and insulted his blindness.
  • What? That's nonsense!!! Go away Tiresias!!!
  • I don't want to throw the blame around but it was totally you. You killed Lauis
  • Driven into the fury by the accusation, Oedipus thinks Creon and Tiresias have been working together to overthrow him as a king, to let Creon become a king.
  • Is this plot yours alone or was it Creon’s idea?
  • I call upon you to obey the words of your own decree. From this day on do not speak to me or to these citizens. You are the killer. You bring the pollution upon Thebes.
  • Oedipus dared Tiresias to say he murdered Laius again so he did. Oedipus then mocked, rejected, and ordered the prophet to leave angrily.
  • Damnation fall upon you! Get out of my sight! Never set foot in my house again!
  • I would never have come if you had not ordered it.
