The Kidnapping in the Park
Storyboard Description
In this story, a little boy named Jimmy is kidnapped after going to the park alone. He is taken by an old man and brought to a basement. Thankfully, he is rescued by the police. That night, Jimmy's mom reads him a book called "The Kidnapping in the Park." Jimmy learns what not to do and how the world may be more dangerous than he thinks.

- It was a Sunday afternoon and Jimmy was heading out to play in the park. It was getting dark outside but Jimmy was going to meet his friend, Oliver.
- ̈́"Have fun with Oliver!"
- "Thanks mom! I'll see you soon. Love you!"
- As Jimmy walked down the street he realized that it was getting dark. Suddenly, he got a text from Oliver saying that he would not be able to come to the park because he had a lot of homework. Jimmy didn't mind and continued to walk to the park.
- "I really wish Oliver could come! I will still go to the park though. Maybe, I will meet a new friend!"
- A mysterious man approaches Jimmy at the park. Jimmy is a little nervous but then the man says that he knows Jimmy's mom and is supposed to bring Jimmy home. Jimmy is happy and decides to get in the car with the friendly man.
- "Hey kid! Your mom told me to pick you up. She said it is getting late. Don't worry you can trust me.'
- "Okay, that sounds good. My friend could not come to the park so I'm glad that you are taking me home. My address is 24 Brookwood Drive."
- The man tells Jimmy that he is taking Jimmy to his house. Jimmy is confused and realizes what is going. He begins to panick and wants to be with his mom.
- The man says. laughing" Kid, we are going to my house. You might not see your mom for a long time."
- "Oh no! Please don't do this. I am so scared and I just want to be with my mom."
- Jimmy is taken to the man's basement. He begins to cry and wonders if he will ever see his family again. Suddenly, a policemen brusts through the door and orders the man to get on his knees. Jimmy is so thankful and relieved.
- "I found you! Get on your knees now. You are going to prison."
- That night, Jimmy's mom explained to Jimmy the importance of being safe and what to do the next time he is in a dangerous situation. The mom decides to pull out a book called "The Kidnapping in the Park" to explain kidnapping to Jimmy.
- "Oh, Jimmy! I'm glad you are safe. You should not have gone to the park after knowing that Oliver couldn't. Let's read this book about kidnapping."
- "Ok mom. I was so scared but now I know how to be more safe. I love you!"
