Texte du Storyboard

  • I 'd like to punch that Michael in the nose.
  • David arrives home from school, tossing his bag to the floor
  • Can you tell me about what happened with Michael?
  • You appear upset with him, and I see you’ve crumpled up your artwork.
  • I’m upset with Michael because we had the art competition in class.
  • Michael got first and I got second, and he just had to rub it in my face when the teacher wasn’t paying attention.
  • Alright, take a moment. Freshen up, have a bite to eat and drink some water, we can talk some more in an hour.
  • You look less distressed now
  • One hour later...In the kitchen
  • Yeah, I took a shower, but I’m still irritated with Michael and my stupid artwork
  • Why do you say your artwork is stupid? You worked on it very hard, and said that you were proud of it this morning.
  • That was before I lost to Michael!
  • The competition was voted upon by your peers. That indicates that others thought your work was excellent.
  • Michael is not the one who decides that your work is not worthy!
  • Yeah, I mean, I know people thought my art was good, Mrs. Leigh even said it was one of her personal favourites. It just all feels pointless 'cause of what Michael said.
  • What exactly did Michael say to you?
  • Nothing really, just that it was really boring and basic compared to what he did. He did a whole sculpture, and I didn’t even think to do anything creative like him. He’s right, my work is boring.
  • You have always displayed an interest in classic artwork and techniques, which is what you implemented here. You have always said that that is what you enjoy the most.
  • Yeah, I mean, I guess so. That’s why my art teacher liked it, she said that it takes a lot of practice and talent to use oils so well.
  • You put in a lot of time and effort into your work. Though, now it's all crumpled up.
  • Yeah, I kind of regret that now. I could still look at it to figure out what I could do differently next time
  • You’re going to face Michael again in class, and in future art competitions where you may win or lose again.
  • You aren’t obligated to pay him any attention, or acknowledge any of the distress.
  • I know I shouldn't have messed up my work. But I just felt so humiliated, and I couldn't say or do anything to Michael, cause that would be kind of admitting defeat.
  • You have lost competitions before in the past, and in those cases you were inspired to try to improve, or attempt something different
  • Yeah, I guess I could try to work on my stuff. Maybe even try sculpting or different techniques. I can’t let Michael be the only one having fun trying new things.
  • Michael did make fun of your work, though you seem less upset now.
  • I’m just going to ignore him from now on. I’m going to have a lot of critics if I want to get serious about my art, and I can’t waste my time on a vain winner like him. I don't plan on forgiving him yet, though.
  • Of course, you have to go at your own pace. Now, let's take a look at that artwork!
