- The scene I chose from "7th Grade" is the part after French class, where Teresa comes up to Victor and compliments him on his "very accurate" French, and after mentally pleading to Mr. Bueller about not telling her the truth, Victor lies that yes, indeed he knew, feeling gallons of shame inside. This ties in with the big idea of "Fear of Failure" as Victor is worried that he will mess his bluff up, get caught, and make Teresa think he sucks, which is failure in his eyes. I had a moment of "Fear of Failure" when I was given an assignment in 5th grade where I had to write an essay about my favorite color and 3 reasons why I liked it. I had no idea what to do because I genuinely liked purple-it looked nice. I was full-on stressed and had to bluff everything out. Muster up something that didn't make sense and somehow elaborate on it. I was afraid that I was going to fail the assignment.
