  • Scene 1: The Breakup
  • Did I do anything wrong? Is there something that I can do to fix this?
  • No, there is nothing you can do. I don't think I am into men. You should let go of me.
  • This isn't working Marcus, I am breaking up with you.
  • Scene 2: The Act
  • I- I don't have cash with me r- right now..
  •
  • Hey you! You got any lunch money?
  • Scene 3: Public attention
  • Don't they know I can hear them gossiping about me?
  • Do you know what's up with Marcus? He is so scary! He tried to rob me yesterday.
  • I heard his girlfriend dump him.
  • His appearance has changed so much
  • Marcus' girlfriend breaks up with him because she has noticed that she has feelings for her girl-best friend. Marcus could not come to terms with her sexuality. it was a crushing moment for Marcus to find out his ex-girlfriend's sexual identity as being lesbian.
  • Scene 4: Getting confronted by an authority
  • Principal's Office
  • The next day, Marcus comes to school acting all tough and mean to everyone he sees as inferior to him. The act that Marcus is portraying is his way of bottling up his emotions and proving his masculinity to the public. He shows his masculinity by being dominating and using violence as he thinks that it would solve his problems.
  • Scene 5: Keeping up the Act

  • Hey! The line starts back there! Stop cutting the line Marcus!
  • The Next Day...

This type of situation creates a social diversion due to Marcus' change of appearance and his peers seeing it as deviant.
  • Scene 6: The Final Word
  • Staff's Parking Lot
  • I've had enough of your behaviors Marcus! I have given you so much chances to change but you took everything for granted. You are suspended until further notice!
  • A week later...
  • One day, Marcus got sent to the Principal's Office. The principal told Marcus that he was sent there because fellow students had stigmatized him for his recent behaviors. While the principal was confronting Marcus, all Marcus could think of was how unfair this treatment was, not caring about the school rules anymore.
  • I don't care about anything anymore...
  • Hi Marcus, I called you here to talk about the behaviors you've been acting on as they are inappropriate on school grounds. Also, unnatural hair color is prohibited on school grounds, so please, by tomorrow I expect your hair to return to its normal hair color.
  • Even though the principal had told Marcus to change his hair color to its natural color, Marcus did not listen and continued to turn to deviance. This turning is known as the 'Strain Theory' since Marcus had perceived the principal's proposal to change his appearance as unfair. Because of this unfairness, Marcus continued to act tough.
  • Sigh...Marcus again.
  • Do you think I care? I'm a senior and you guys are just freshmen here. I can do whatever I want.
  • The Next Day...
