  • Tweets about company:"I loveeeee *insert company* they've exceeded all my expectations #sarcastic""*insert company name* I couldn't be any happier with your service *eye roll emoji*"
  • How can we market to customers when we can't even figure out if they're being sarcastic or not?
  • We're not sure...
  • I have the perfect solution! My team of researchers at the University of Florida have created an AI that detects sarcasm on social media!
  • How The AI functions:A computer model is taught to find patterns and pick out cue words in sequences that are typically indicators of sarcasm
  • What is the AI's intended purpose?:For companies who want to market and sell a product, navigating language on social media platforms is a challenge. This AI was created to give brands the opportunity to detect sarcasm in order to market themselves more efficiently. The AI will help brands separate positive feedback and negative feedback (including a facetious comments which can often slip under the radar as being positive).
  • So what would be some beneficial and harmful effects of this computing innovation?
  • Beneficial Effects:- Limits confusion when Brands interact with their consumers- Costumers will get accurate responses depending on the connotation of their feedback which will build stronger connections between brands and their consumers-Brands will ultimately improve overall by looking into all costumer feedback without any restrictions of whether or not a computer can decipher a comments tone
  •
  • Some beneficial and harmful effects of this innovation include...
  • Harmful Effects:- Oppressive institutions or governments could use this technology to suppress criticisms coded in sarcasm- Even social media companies can monitor sarcasm and limit the negative opinions of their brand
  •
  • Wow! Whenever I leave sarcastic feedback companies always mistake it as positive. Whatever they're doing to fix that is awesome. I'm glad my feedback is heard!
  • We're sorry to hear about your negative experience with our company ma'am. We are doing everything in our power to fix our mistakes. Thanks for the feedback!
  • Woof! This new computing innovation rocks!
