The legend of Osiris

- Osiris came to earth as a pharoh of Egypt, under his leadership Egypt grew rich and powerful. Osiris’ brother, Seth, became jealous and tried to get rid of him.
- Finally, Seth did it, he had brought a golden coffin to a party exactly Osiris' shape, and promises whoever fits gets to keep it. When it was Osiris' turn, Seth quickly trapped his inside, threw the coffin into the Nile River, and drowned Osiris.
- However, Osiris’ wife, Isis, was determined to find Osiris’ body and bring him back to life. To prevent her from doing that, Seth chopped Osiris’ body into fourteen parts, and hid them all over Egypt.
- After finding all fourteen pieces, Isis bounded them together in linen . Osiris became god of the dead, he judged the souls ofthe dead Egyptians.
- Horus, the son of Isis and Orisis, defeated Seth in battle and killed him. Horus became ruler of Egypt
- This legend was very important to the Egyptians, they thought a dead pharaoh was one with Osiris. The living pharaoh was thought to be one with Horus.
