Many drinks later...
I feel ill...
This says you have a considerable fever.
Also, tomorrow I am leaving for Baltimore.
But you can't, not in that condition!
The next morning...
After meeting up with a friend, Poe goes to a popular restaraunt.
Poe gets to the place, oblivious that he took his friend's cane with him.
I might actually die before getting back home...
He supposedly has too many drinks, but states that he feels fine.

He returns home, once again, oblivious that he has the wrong cane, and forgot his luggage this time.
3:00a.m.
Once getting home, Poe constantly complains about how ill he feels, and finds out he has a severe fever.
REYNOLDS! REYNOLDS! REYNOLDS!
Him and his wife, Virginia Clemm, get angry at each other, as Poe states he is leaving soon.
The End & Epilogue
Not many know exactly how Edgar Allan Poe really died, though some say that it was due to alcohol, or possibly another illness prior to entering Richmond.
Either early morning or late night, Edgar boards the ship that is soon leaving back to Baltimore.
Virginia tries to wake up early to catch him on the way out, but fails.
Still oblivious of his missing luggage, Poe expects to die before even making it home.
During the trip...
Arriving at the hospital in Baltimore(supposedly) unconscious, Poe wakes up trembling until the next day.
His behavior is followed by imaginary shapes, constant talking, as well as constant delirium as to where he left his luggage.
He constantly yells, and finally calms down, then dies.
