- Hey sis, i was wondering what is food miles i have to write about it for homework.
- Well, food miles is the distance food is transported from the time of its making until it reaches the consumer but its bad for the environment since the trip uses lots of carbon which is bad for humans. Let me tell you through a story!
- ...This is where the food miles starts at the farm where the food grows or where the animals make the food.
- Second, this is the factory where the food is packaged or they use those food as recipes for bigger foods or meals.
- This is the warehouse where they sort the food and transport it to other countries by planes, ships, lorries etc. In the countries the food goes to supermarkets and more.
- This is the supermarket where the food is sold and goes into peoples homes by cars.
- Lastly, this is where food miles end in your home. When you pick up the food you eat it but in each step carbon is involve by using transportation and carbon affects our health so we should just get our food straight from the source! but from a nearby farm.
