- How It all started!
- Hi my name is Chris and I am going to tell you how my grandparents immigrated to Canada from Italy....
- The Traveling Begins, the summer of 1972
- But they first decided on going to the U.S.A.??
- New York City, Jackson Heights
- So this is the bigcity. I like Canada better too!
- My grandparents met and got married in Italy on January 29th, 1967. They decided to move to a different country. For a better job and way of living.
- Canada, Ontario 1972
- My grandparents brought all their belongings, leaving nothing behind, scared and excited they begin their travels. to America. They thought America would be a better place to start their new life, with their firstborn, my aunt. So off they went and traveled by ship.
- Little Malton Ontario 1973
- As soon as they got there, my grandmother did not like the big busy city. They notice the ship made a stop in Canada before getting to the U.S. and liked Canada much better. So they decided to travel to Canada instead.
- Happily Ever After
- Congratulations to another new baby on the way!!
- So they finally arrived in Canada, Malton Ontario. They bought their own house years later they bought their own car and started their very own family. But it wasn't this easy, believe it or not, my grandmother wanted to go back to Italy. She found speaking English very difficult.
- Welcome to our new home!
- Not knowing how to read in English, my grandparents did know where to find a travel agency to get back to Italy. My grandmother was not happy. But they did the best they could and stayed in Canada.
- Wow! could this have meant that my own parents may not have ever met, and I would never be born?
- So my grandparents decided to stay in Canada and make the best of it. Knowing to their surprise my grandmother was expecting their second child, my mother. This is my story on how my grandparent immigrated to Canada from Italy.
