  • I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Today we will be learning about the types on families
  • Yea me too.
  • I am glad we are learning about this because I never knew there were classified types. I just thought families are randomly different
  • The first family is Nuclear. This is a mom, dad, and one or more children that are related by blood or adoption.
  • The advantages is responsibilities and financial aspects are shared. Children also have a man and woman role model.
  • Thats my family. Its positive like you just said, but my dad is gone most of the time at work, so thats the disatvantage
  • Thats just like an ordinary family. People see that as the perfect family with no problems.
  • That means kids dont have either a mom or dad role model like the nuclear family. They need another role model.
  • The next family is a single parent family. Only one parent and one or more children. This is 25% of families in the US
  • Advantages is stability, independence and responsibility. That also means less money and no help.
  • I would hate to only have one parent, and that means youd spend less time with them because they have to work a lot
  • I have a blended family. Its hard because I am still not used to being an older sister, or having a step-mom. I dont like her parenting me too. Im used to just my dad doing that.
  • Yeah I know that has to be hard. My cousin has blended family, and two half brothers.
  • The third is the blended family. Two parents that involves step parents and step siblings or half siblings.
  • Adults share the responsibilities as they would in a nuclear family but everyone has to have patience to adjust to new family roles.
  • Yea but that means the house is cramped, lot of arguing, and less privacy.
  • So grandparents and cousins could be included
  • Now we are going to talk about the extended family. All immediate relatives of a family.
  • The advantages is a lot of help, support, and more money.
  • Yeah thats like both of our families living together. I dont know if i could adjust to that.
  • The last family we are going to talk about is called cooperative family. Non-related people who get together to parent there children in one house hold.
  • The advantages are support and sharing responsibilities.
  • That would be hard to adjust to. Thats a disadvantage.
