  • Hi, I'm Meme and I'm going to tell you about packet switching!
  • In packet switching it can go up to 2000 bits per second.
  • Packet switching is used to optimize the use of the channel capacity available in digital communication networks.
  • Sending small packets allows a node to send more than one message at the same time. It is rather like speaking to two people at the same time, Saying one word to each person in turn. Packet switching also helps to ensure messages arrive complete without slowing down.
  • Packet Switching works by using networking layering which begins with the application layer encodes/decodes the message that is understood by the sender and recipient.
  • Next it's the transports layer which breaks the data down into packets. Each packet is given a number and assembled by it's recipient.
  • The third layer is the network layer. This layer ads the IP address so the network knows where the message is going and coming from.
  • The fourth and final layer is the data link layer which enables the transfer of packets between a node on a network.
