- As punishment for demanding money from America we will be capturing this ship.
- As a punishment for making a treaty with Great Britain, France starts capturing American ships that attempt to trade with Britain. The French Navy captures over 300 ships.
- The delegates went to negotiate with France and met with X. Y, and Z, who were called that because the 3 men never said their names. They demanded money, which the Americans refused to give. The slogan "Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute!" was created.
- As a response, President Adams recruited an army to wage an undeclared war. America captured over 80 ships in this time until France surrendered due to not being able to afford to lose ships due to the was with Great Britain.
