Texte du Storyboard

  • well a magnet is a piece of iron that has its component atoms so ordered that the material exhibits properties of magnetism, such as attracting other iron-containing objects or aligning itself in an external magnetic field.
  • Hey Tim, I've been reading this book about magnets, and I just can't put it down. I've almost finished reading and I don't know what magnet is
  • Hey Jim remember last year when we came here for ice skating and I slipped, the was pretty embarrassing but that's how ice is, low in friction.
  • Friction is the force resisting the motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers and more sliding against each other. There are three types of friction including sliding friction, rolling friction and fluid friction. But in my case with ice the friction is generally low causing people to slip and fall.
  • Oh yeah Tim, but what is friction ?
  • I guess I could call you unstoppable, if I may
  • Fweuww, glad were at a safe distance, but this made me thing when a volcano erupts there is something called magnetite that may be in it and it acts like a magnet. So what is magnetism ?
  • Looks like things are going to be going south if we don't get out of here fast
  • Magnetism is a physical phenomenon produced by the movement of electrical charge resulting in attractive and repulsive forces between objects. Or in simpler words, it's the reason why magnets stick or repel depending on which poles are matched poles.
  • fun fact ,gravity is the force that helps keep the planets in our solar system in orbit.
  • Jim you know where we are ? We're at the rubber band factory to learn about elastic/elasticity
  • is Elasticity/elastic is a physical property of a material where the material returns to its original shape after being deformed. Just like a rubber band when you stretch it.
  • Cool, but what is elasticity/elastic ?
  • Fun fact, rolling friction ,can be applyed to skate borders when they are riding.
  • The joke (underlined ) was supposed to be ironic due to the fact gravity pulls things down and when Jim says he can't put it down he is relating it to that.
  • so what did we learn ?
  • We learned that gravity is a force in which attempts to pull any objects to the center of the earth. And it helps keep the planets in our solar system in orbit.
  • Fun fact if you get two magnets and you connect the north poles to the south poles they attract. But if you connect north to north and south to south they repel.
  • furthermore ...
  • The joke (underlined) was supposed to be applied to me because when I explained the part about ice having less friction and I slipped. Jim was trying to show I was unstoppable because I was slipping and I could not stop my self.
  • We learned that friction is the force resisting the motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers and more sliding against each other. And we learned that there is three types of friction, Sliding fiction, fluid friction and rolling friction.
  • Fun fact an activity that requires the property of elasticity is bungee jumping.
  • I guess that was a stretch
  • reviewing gravity.
  • reviewing friction.
