  • In the past, women were viewed as subservient to men and were only seen as domestic creatures. They were never valued and the thought of women and men being equal was a completely unknown and hidden concept to society.
  • This is so unfair. I can do more with my life, I should be allowed to.
  • What are you doing here! This is an office! Women belong in the kitchen!
  • After centuries and centuries of inequality and a perception of being a "subservient" species, many women finally decided to take a stand. The Senaca Falls women rights convention of 1848 was a convention that sparked the beginning of the 7-decade movement of women's suffrage.

  • Elizabeth Cady Stanton was an incredibly influential and prominent figure for women's suffrage. She wrote a Declaration of Sentiments which had outlined the various rights women should have in America. Stanton also had began and organized the Womens Suffrage Movement.

  • In 1917, after being a prominent icon in the women's suffrage movement for years on end, Alice Paul orchestrated a nonviolent protest outside of the white house. However, after months of these protests, police arrested Paul and many other suffragists. This caused an outrage amongst the public and the authorities eventually released the imprisoned suffragists.

  • America is not a democracy. 20 Million women are denied the right to vote!!!
  • TO ASK FOR FREEDOM IS NOT A CRIME! STOP TREATING SUFFRAGIST PRISONERS LIKE CRIMINALS!
  • In 1919, after many long, vigourus, and intense protests and speeches, the 19th amendment was passed. The 19th amendment decrees that women are legally allowed to vote in democratic matters. This was a huge step taken toward gender equality.

  • Women's suffrage have allowed women in our modern day to be in areas of political power, which decades ago may have seemed impossible and unimaginable.
