  • Genesis 16, 21:1-21
  • SARAH
  • ABRAM
  • SARAI
  • At this time Sarai is unable to perform child birth. God has made a promise with them in waiting, but Sarai offers up her maid as she is eager for a child.
  • Abram here I have brought my maid, Hagar. She is willing to bear our child
  • an angel descends only to comfort Hagar after she has been sent away out of jealousy , by Sarai.
  • the angel found Hagar in the wilderness and told her to go back. The angel also told her she is requested to name the child, Ishmael
  • Fast forward 20 years Abram met Sarah. And as promised, Sarah gave birth to a baby that Abraham named, Isaac.
  • Abram held a banquet for Isaac and Sarah noticed that Hagar the maids' son was playing with Isaac. Sarah demanded that Hagar and her son ISHAMEL must leave, “ Drive out that slave and her son! No son of that slave is going to share the inheritance with my son Isaac!” ( Genesis 21;10). God tells Abram not to stress but to obey Sarah's wishes
  • AHHHHHH
  • the next morning and she went into the wilderness. She put the child down and wept because she did not want her child to face death. God tells Hagar how she will make Ishmael a great nation and to not cry. God remained with the boys as they grew up, living in the wilderness and becoming a bowman.
  • Overall, the main moral message is how this story plays a role in salvation history. Even though Ishmael was the first born son we are always told to obey god and here obeying god is displayed as he command Abram to listen to Sarah
