- My name is Depression.
- Not so long ago, a nine-year-old boy named Eric used to spend a lot of time with his parents, especially his dad. He loved to play outside with them under the sun.
- Then Eric's dad became sick, and soon after, he passed away. Eric felt very lonely after his dad passed away.
- Stop doing your homework and don't talk to your friends.
- But Eric was not alone for long. After his dad passed away a shadow took his place. The shadow told Eric that his name was depression. Eric thought that this was a strange name.
- Just get in bed. You already feel sad, so don't do anything. You can't do anything.
- Wherever Eric went, the shadow followed. When he woke up Depression was there, and when he went to school, Depression was there as well.
- Depression began to tell Eric not to do things that he normally enjoyed. Eric was unable to ignore him and he experienced a loss of interest in different areas of his life. He didn't want to do his homework or see his friends.
- The more time Eric spent with Depression, the sadder he felt. He could not say no to him and he felt his sadness worsen. Soon, Eric's sleeping pattern began to change, and he slept during the daytime.
