Texte du Storyboard

  • The security guards add another layer of protection to the bank. Similarly, there are Killer T cells.; They identify the antigens on a pathogen just how security guards identify suspicious behaviors.
  • The bank is housed by walls which protects it just like the human body is protected by skin, making it harder for harmful things to get inside.
  • Sometimes these protection mechanisms are not enough though. The robber can still sometimes get into the bank. The robber is like a pathogen and antigen. A pathogen is a harmful substance that can cause disease, and it has something called an antigen attached to it causing a response from your body.
  • The robber is harmful because he is putting people in danger and stealing things that do not belong to him. The pathogen is dangerous because it can make you sick. Just like the body reacts to antigens, when a robber steals the bank reacts by calling the police.
  • The banker is like a helper T cell, they identify the antigen on a pathogen just how the banker identifies a robber.
  • Once the pathogen is inside, the body it comes in contact with a macrophage. A macrophage is like a silent alarm system because it locates and presents the threat to other cells so they can get rid of it; Just like how a silent alarm alerts the police of a robber so they can catch them.
  •
  • When the police come they try to find and catch the robber just like B cells that try to identify antigens so that they can turn into plasma cells and kill the harmful cells.
  • The plasma cells are the ones that create antibodies to kill the harmful cells and this is the chief of police who actually catches the robber.
  • Finally, the antibodies are like handcuffs because they both physically attach to the threat and contain/ kill it.
