Texte du Storyboard

  • First Academy Building:
  • The following morning—the clean-washed shine ofsummer mornings in the north country—Mr. Prud’homme stopped at our door.(Knowles).
  • There was nothing to distract me as I made my way across a wide yard, called the Far Commons, and up to a building as red brick and balanced as the other major buildings, but with a largecupola and a bell and a clock and Latin over the doorway—the First Academy Building (Knowles).
  • Mr. Prud’homme must have known, Finny knew, if he stopped to think, that jumping outof the tree was even more forbidden than missing a meal...Gene and I are both going to be seventeen at the end of the summer, which is a very convenienttime since it’s the start of the academic year and there’s never any doubt about which class youshould be in(Knowles).
  • The tree was tremendous, an irate, steely black steeple beside the river. I was damned if I’dclimb it. The hell with it. No one but Phineas could think up such a crazy idea.(Knowles,3).
  • This was the tree, andit seemed to me standing there to resemble those men, the giants of your childhood, whom youencounter years later and find that they are not merely smaller in relation to your growth, but thatthey are absolutely smaller, shrunken by age(Knowles,3).
  • Night before at the tree
  • There were three others with us—Phineas in those days almost always moved in groups the sizeof a hockey team—and they stood with me looking with masked apprehension from him to thetree.(Knowles,4)
