- While in the stands, Mary starts to wonder how tall Kevin Durant is, she knows that his shadow is 219 centimeters long, she also knows that the distance between the top of Durants head to the top of his shadow is 302 centimeters long
- Player
- With the knowledge that Mary has, she can take the difference of both of these numbers squared and then take the square root of that number to find out that Durant is 207.95 centimeters tall.

- Durant wants to pass the basketball to his teammate on the left, but the opposing team has a player on the right of him, he wants to make sure that the distance between the two other players allows for enough time for his teammate to catch the ball and shoot it into the hoop

- Durant realizes that his teammate is 11 feet away, and that the other player is 14 feet away. If the angle between Durant and the other players is 18 degrees, then he can figure out the distance between the other two players using the Laws of Cosine

- By adding the square of 11 and 14, then subtracting (2 x 11 x 14 x cos(18°), you get 24.07 after applying the square root, the answer is 4.9, so the other two players are almost 5 feet apart.
