- You don't ever think

- I was comin' home from the movies. I didn't think.....
- Darry yells at Ponyboy for falling asleep outside and he slaps him (pg:49-50)
- I... I went to sleep in the lot...
- Where in the almighty universe were you?

- Darry yells at ponyboy for being gone a long time but then, he tells him why he is mad. (pg: 84)
- Pony, you've scared me to death. Please be careful, because I could'nt stand if anything happened to you.
- Pony,where have you been all this time?
- Darry tries to convince the docter that they are the real family of Ponyboy, then he stays with Ponyboy at the hospital and rubs Ponyboys heead., which shows he cares (pg: 103)
- We'd better go home. We can't do anything here.
- Darry tells Ponyboy he should'nt be in the rumble, but then he let's him because he trusts him enough. (pg: 133-144)
- How come? I've always come through before, ain't I?
- I don't know if you ought to be in this rumble, Ponyboy.
- Darry and Ponyboy tell eachother tthey arnt going to fight anymore and Ponyboy says he means it. This shows resoluttion between the two. (pg: 176-177)
- No more fights ok Ponyboy?
