  • Anyone out after 9:00 pm will be shot on sight!
  • Plaszow Concentration Camp
  • Yanek and his two friends under the floor board, sleeping in a empty barrack.
  • Wieliczka Salt Mine
  • Chapter 1-8: After 9:00 anyone seen outside will be shot, chapter 2 is when the war basically started. and the nazis started taking over the street of Krakow and the nazis started breaking into people's houses and taking them to camps. Now Yanek is sleeping in the hall and one night Yanek's dad is sneaking out Yanek begs to go and his dad says yes, they go to a bakery and make bread. One day Yanek went to a friend's house and went back home late going home he turned the corner and saw his parents being led to die.
  • Chapter 9-10: When Yanek arrives to the camp he thinks he is all alone until he sees someone who looks familiar, Unkle Moshe! Unkle Moshe tells Yanek that the rest of his family is dead and it is only him. Later Moshe dies leaving Yanek alone without telling him where he left the bread or money. Yanek finds a loose floor board he thinks his uncle told him about but never caught what he was telling him and slept inside of it to regain strength with two people he knew in his barrack.
  • Chapter 13-15: One morning 50 prisoners were loaded into trucks not knowing where they were going, inside the truck Yanek saw a man who looked familiar, a jew who helped the nazis go through his parents flat but Yanek didn't realize that yet. The 50 prisoners were marched into a salt mine factory to work. Later in the mines, Yanek realized who the man was once someone else mentioned they recognize him as well, once they all found out who he was they killed him and put salt in his wounds to symbolize misery he put them through.
