- Dad?? Whats wrong, you look sad?
- I dont have enough money to pay the bills. I need you to go inside and find a job.
- I cant believe dad is making me get a job. I am only 9 years old! I already have so much work to do at home.
- A 9 year old child and her dad are struggling to pay the bills for their run-down house in London, which costed about $10 a week. The father forces the child to find a job in order to pay the bills.
- The child is already so busy at home when doing her chores in a poor environment, although she knows she must find a job. She picked her first job to be at a sewing factory.
- Working here is so hard!
- The child is feeling very nervous to go to her job during the Industrial Revolution at a factory and has to ride the bus to get there.
- Her first day at the sewing factory started off bad and with hard working conditions. It was a large crowded noisy room with dangerous occupations.
- The child worked long and hard hours, still earning the minimum wage, which was 25 cents an hour. As she continued to work at the factory it began hard to manage and balance her work between home life.
