  • Tim and Sally, what do you think is the biggest source of energy?
  • Yes, Jane, indeed. Energy is the ability to do work or make a change. Energy is invisible. However, you can tell when energy is there. One way to tell is if something is moving. A person walking down the street, a tree blowing in the wind, and the hands of a clock spinning are all signs of energy.

  • Tim, do you think a TV would work if it is plugged in? What types of input and output energies does the TV use?
  • Yes, Sally. The sun is indeed the biggest source of energy. Now I want us to mention the 4 types of energy.

  • Machines and appliances need an input of energy to be transferred to make them work. As mentioned in the introduction, for a TV to switch on, it requires electrical energy and the output will produce light and sound energy.

  • Energy around usEnergy is the ability to do workThe biggest source of energy is the sun. The 4 types of energies are namely solar energy, nuclear energy, electrical and chemical energy.
  • Students work in 3 groups. They assemble their given tools and try and exchange them with the other group in 5 seconds. The next group has 20 seconds to dismantle the torch and other tools and pass it on to the other groups in 5 seconds while they receive a tool to mantle.
  • A student in each group demonstrates running, turning on the light, making a sound, and acting out anything that involves energy. For this playful learning, students in their groups will choose which member they want to represent them and will choose which act they thought of.
