- Nachash's (from Amones) army was coming to attack the little city of Yavesh Gilad. Yavesh Gilad was scared. Nachash said "If everyone gouges out their right eye (Torah), then we won't hurt you." Yavesh Gilad's elders said "Wait 7 days, we'll send messangers to the whole border, and if there is no one who will protect us, then we'll surrender."

- We're scared! (Yavesh Gilad's elders said) "Wait 7 days, we'll send messangers to the whole border, and if there is no one who will protect us, then we'll surrender."

- Shaol cut up cattle, and gave everyone a piece, and told them "If you don't come with me to fight, you're dead meat!" Then he counted everyone.

- During the war, the Bnai Yisrael killed so many people that no two people ended up together. After the war, the Bnai Yisrael wanted to kill everyone that said that Shaol shouldn't be king, but Shaol refused to let people die on a happy day.
