  • How applicable do you think Learning Stories would be in your school and/or classroom context?
  • hi
  • Learning stories are effective assessment strategies used by early childhood practitioners to document a child’s life in the classroom and school community base on observation of the child at play (NAEYC, 2019). This method can be a more effective evaluation exercise at my school than the current pen and paper method of assessing children's growth. Learning stories, for example, can help practitioners collect relevant data that can be used to track children's progress over time. Participants can diagnose developmental deficiencies and create programs and courses that meet children where they are (Carr Lee,2012; 2019). The information acquired can help teachers provide developmentally appropriate tools, scaffolding, and guidance to children in order to help them reach their full potential. According to Vygotsky, by attentively studying the students, teachers can identify their current level of development and provide appropriate further learning opportunities (Slavin, 2000).
  • The usage of learning stories at my school can also assist teachers in developing effective curriculum based on students' interests. It can assist instructors in collaborating and planning activities that are linked to curricular goals and match the school's learning outcomes (NAEYC, 2019). According to social learning theorists, learning theories not only examine the learner's knowledge of the subject, but also allow teachers to assess the learner's attitude, knowledge, and abilities while displaying the content for learning (NAEYC, 2019). This can benefit the pupils at my school since it takes a more holistic approach to learning and values learning as more than just remembering information.
