  • The Great Adventure: A Journey Through the Water Cycle
  • I look around me with excitement as water droplets positioned on leaves turn to mist with a shiver and float toward the sun. It is time to evaporate! I tingle as the liquid inside me draws in warmth. Tiny drops from my surface sizzle and rise as transpiration occurs. My heart races and I feel myself moving away from the leaf.
  • I rise with the other water droplets through the atmosphere until we all are sucked together. I bump other droplets as we squeeze in next to each other and slowly form a thick, grey, cloud full of our vapor and dust This must be condensation, I think.
  • I look down as the wind carries the group of droplets and dust across the sky. My eyes grow wide as I stare at fields of lush, green grass below us. This is definitely not the Taiga. Once we stop, I wait. I know that precipitation is coming. Sure enough I feel my stomach drop as we all release our grip and cascade downwards into the soil. as runoff. We stand still for a few moments all together, taking in the meadow surrounding us. Now ground water, we hold our breath, waiting for the next part of the water cycle.
  • My body is pushed and pulled as percolation tugs me across the soil and into a lake. I drift for a few days and then suddenly see the grassy bank ahead. As the liquid inside me soaks into the ground, I know that infiltration has happened.
  • The air around me grows colder as time passes, and soon I notice a thick, white coat forming around me. I must be frozen. I rest my tired body inside the ice burg as the sun's rays gently tear pieces off, forcing me upward. As I melt, the water inside me rises again. I have completed the water cycle!
