- Vagina

- I've arrived at the vagina its time to begin my quest!
- Cervix
- This has to be the right one.
- There's too many stair cases!
- Uterus
- Quick its the entrance to to Fallopian tubes!
- We are the white blood cells and we are here to destroy you foreign invaders!
- About 250 million sperm enter into the vagina at the same time. Most of the sperm perish within 30 minutes of entry. The vagina releases acid and the sperm are protected only by the seminal fluid.
- Uterotubal Junction
- Finally the princesses hallways I can rest and and then go find the princess.
- About 60000 sperm remain. The remaining sperm must go through the cervix. and its many tunnels. They must avoid the tiny channels in the cervical canal as if they enter they will be trapped or crushed. The mucus in the cervix becomes watery so the sperm can cross into the uterus.
- Fertilization
- You came to rescue me! You're my hero, my love!
- About 3000 sperm remain and must navigate through the wide open area of the uterus to make it to the Fallopian tubes. Sperm will be propelled in the right direction by muscle contractions but they are attacked by white blood cells who believe they are a dangerous invader. They must search for the doorway to the Fallopian tubes.
- Implantation
- WAAAAH!
- The few sperm remaining will now wait for an egg to show itself. They can stay alive for days because of the nutrition from the Fallopian tubes.
- The egg releases chemicals and the sperm are able to sense where it is. The race continues with the sperm all racing to be the first to penetrate the egg. The sperm head makes contact with the outer coat of the egg and explodes to get its genetic payload in.
- I've finally found you!
- Finally the sperms journey comes to an end. After the long and challenging journey the embryo implants into the wall of the uterus and begins growing into a baby over the course of 9 months.
