- IMMUNITY RESPONSE
- Mommy I don't feel good
- Holy smokes! You have a 103 degree fever! I hope your antibodies are up for a fight against your antigens.
- I could hear your altered immune response from downstairs . Let me check your temperature.
- Well honey, you have things in your body that fight off your sickness. B cells, Natural Killers, and macrophages.
- So how is my body is going to fight my sickness?
- Your body produces antibodies that will attach to the antigens that are killing the virus.
- The B cells get tired and die after they fight the virus so hard. Natural Killer cells kill themselves when they get sick from the virus.
- Helper T cells get activated and multiply and then become memory cells.
- Macrophages use dendritic cells to help fight off the virus by moving through the lymph node to get to get to the helper T cells.
- Of course your cells will win the fight against the virus! After the virus is destroyed, the suppressor cells close down the immune response.
- Do you think my body will fight the virus off?
