  • Not yet. I'm trying to compute the test statistic value for the population mean. I'm a bit stuck and could use some help. Can you help me with these?
  • There are two girls who's doing their set work on statistic. And Samantha is having a hard time on how to compute the test static value. And her friend (Shane) ask her what's the problem and try to help her.
  • Hey, are you done working on the set work that ma'am Rosalie gave us?
  • Yes, that's correct. I have collected a sample from a population, and i want to determine if the sample mean is significantly different from the hypothesized population mean.
  • Shane starts to help her friend and discuss about the problem.
  • Yeah, I'd be happy to assist you. So, just to clarify, are you trying to perform a hypothesis test for the population mean?
  • Okay, I understand that part. But how do I compute the actual test statistic value?
  • And now, Shane was explaining to Samantha.
  • Great. The first step is to define your null and alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis, denoted as H₀, typically states that the sample mean is equal to the hypothesized population mean. The alternative hypothesis, denoted as H₁, would be that the sample mean is not equal to the hypothesized population mean.
