  • the happy price is the story of a beautiful statue,who has a small swallow take the valuable pieces from him to give to his people.although a short story,the happy prince has many different themes and message in it to teach valuable lessons.
  • one of the themes clear in the short story is different topics of religion. being a devoted christian all his life, wilde has including many themes involving religion into this small tale.
  • even the happy prince is throught to resemble a christian who is in heaven looking down,or may even a version of god himself
  • the swallow was on his way to egypt when the happy prince needs his help brining joy to his subjects.althrough he was still preety kind and right ,he learns what true selflessness is from the prince himself
  • the swallow represents a mentee,as he is leaning morals and judgement from the happy prince.he could also be used to represent a follower of the lord,studing his teachings to reach paradise,or heaven
  • the swallow sacrifice and his strong new desire to spread joy causes him to go to a place of comfort when he finally passes from the cold.this is shown to reinforces wide's idea that anyone can change and do good.
  • the paradise that the swallow goes to represents heaven,as the swallow has died and risen into the clouds.he says that he will be going to a much better place,as that is waht the afterlife is often described as.
  • although man themes exist all of these adds up to one overall message;kindness and giving from your heart is the best thing you can do for others
  • at the end of the story,the prince is rusted ,but happerthan he has ever been.he is sad that the swallow is gone,but it brings him joy that his friend found it in his heart to give,and has been rewarded for his generosity.
