  • ATHENS, Rejoice we conquer!
  • In 546 B.C., the Persians conquered the land of Ionian, took it away from the Greeks. The Greeks fought back and Athens sent ships over to help. The Persians won and took over the land.
  • We want revenge on Athens !
  • You won't get past us!
  • Persian King Darius sought revenge on Athens. The Greeks formed phalanaxes with only 10,000 men. The Persians had 25,000 men but they lacked training. The Persains fled and lost 6,000 men. The Greeks won Battle at Marathon.
  • WE WILL WIN AND TAKE OVER GREECE!
  • After the Battle at Marathon, Pheldippieles the messenger was told to run to Athens. He was to tell the news that Greeks won and to not give up Athens. Rejoice, we conquer.
  • THIS IS OVER !
  • Go home, Persians!
  • 10 years later, Darius passes, Xerxes his son has vowed revenge on the Greeks. Greeks heard about it. Over 7,000 men including 300 Spartans blocked the way at Thermopylae.
  • Xerxes underestimated the Greeks. The Greeks held there advances for three days. The Spartans valiant sacrificed themselves so the rest of the Greeks could retreat and save Greece. A traitor told the Persians of a secret path. The Persians won.
  • After Thermopylae, the Greeks wanted to evacute and fight overseas. Salamis was a narrow channel. Greeks had a small ships that could maneuver easily. Persians had a big ship and were forced to turn around. The Greeks won and Persians went home and were done.
