Texte du Storyboard

  • I.iii.51
  • All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!
  • II.i.33, 34
  • Is this the dagger in which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
  • III.i.49-51
  • To be thus is nothing, but to be safely thus. Our fears in Banquo stick deep, [a]nd in his reign of royalty [w]ich should be feared
  • This shows fate vs. freewill because the witches are telling Macbeth that his fate is to become king along with the Thane of Glamis and Cawdor. They're encouraging him to be king because they are putting the thought in his head making us wonder if it was his fate or freewill to become king.
  • IV.i.73
  • Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! beware Macduff; Beware the thane of Fife
  • This shows fate vs freewill because Macbeth is making himself see the dagger because he wants it to be there. This shows freewill because he wants to kill Duncan and his actions lead him to do so.
  • V.viii.54,55
  • behold, where stands [t]h' usurper's cursed head
  • This is Macbeth's freewill because he knows that Banquo is suspicious of him and would rat him out. In response to this, Macbeth hires murderers to kill Banquo so he doesn't get ratted out.
  • II.i.63,64
  • Here it not, Duncan, for if it is a knell [t]hat summons thee to heaven or to hell
  • This shows fate because Macbeth believed it was fate for him to overpower Macduff and stay in power. His true fate was his death though because of his freewill of him deciding to kill a bunch of people.
  • It's Macbeth's fate to die and be beheaded because he went down the path of murdering but it's also his freewill because he chose to murder everyone.
  • It's Macbeth's freewill because he is choosing to kill Duncan because he thinks that it is his fate to become king and he doesn't think he can get that without taking matters into his own hands. This makes us wonder if his fate was truly to be king or if it was his mind putting the thought into his head. It also makes us wonder if he would have still been king if he wouldn't have let his freewill take over.
