- Benvolio and Mercutio are arguing about whether or not they should fight the Capulets in a dark alley behind a hotel building.
- Are you not a man, and will you retire from this fight before it even begins?
- Mercutio, we should leave the area. The Capulets are coming, and today brings a bad mood.
- Tybalt enters, looking for Romeo. Mercutio is aggravated, yelling at Tybalt.
- I am a friend of Romeo, even more than friends. We are family!
- Are you a friend of Romeo? Where is he?
- Romeo enters. Tybalt tries to fight him, but Romeo tries to reason and tells him that he will not fight.
- I see you as family. I do not want to fight with you!
- You cannot take back what you have done to me!
- Mercutio steps in to fight Tybalt over Romeo. Romeo tries to stop them, but they fight each other.
- Come at me with your full strength!
- Please, Mercutio, Tybalt, stop!
- Mercutio takes a fatal wound, cursing the feuding families. Benvolio takes him off screen to somewhere safe.
- Benvolio, help me to walk and lay to rest! I hope your families die and feel the full force of my suffering!
- Benvolio informs Romeo that Mercutio has passed and Romeo kills Tybalt out of rage.
